Drafts and Review Materials

The development process of the WGIII AR5 included multiple stages of drafting and review. As a record of the report preparation, this page provides access to the drafts submitted at the time of the First Order Draft Expert Review and the Second Order Draft Expert and Government Review, the expert and government review comments received, and the author responses to those review comments. In addition, the Final Draft Summary for Policymakers and the government comments submitted in advance of the Twelfth Session of Working Group III are available. Please note that the Summary for Policymakers and the Technical Summary First Order Drafts are submitted for expert and government review with the Second Order Draft chapters.

Review Editor Reports

In accordance with the IPCC Procedures, the WGIII AR5 Review Editors submitted their written reports to the WGIII Co-Chairs prior to the 12th Session of Working Group III. Upon request of the delegates, these reports were distributed to the participants at WGIII-12 and a compiled document was made available on the meeting participant website. The Review Editors' reports compiled here are those distributed to the participants at WGIII-12, except that the personal names of individuals not connected with IPCC WGIII AR5 have been redacted and signatures have been removed for data protection reasons.

The role of the Review Editors in an IPCC assessment is to ensure that all substantive comments received during the review of the First Order and Second Order Drafts are given appropriate consideration by the author teams and to ensure that diversity in perspectives in the literature is reflected adequately in the report. The Review Editors’ reports are provided to the Panel through the Working Group Co-Chairs to document this process. They are thus part of the quality control of the review process of the assessment. They are not intended to be additional reviews of the content of the drafts of the assessment report.
